i played there too and they had many players and servers for a while. That alone is enough content for 2-3years at least.īut they won't do it ofc, they don't have the capability, rights etc. If they want a prosperous Classic server they'd have to make it progressive as in, get patches a few weeks behind Korea and maybe even go further than they do, and get 3.* and then 4.* and stop there, while giving ppl the option of remaining in older version server. Those type of handlings worked 10 years ago. Gameforge is not capable tbh, and it's going to be the same story, "communication issues" "we're in talks with Korea" "soon". Perhaps it's naïve hoping this will not be repeated with classic, at least not immediately, but there's never been a game quite like Aion for me and I would love to play it again.

I know you are not responsible for the game development, but when the weekly shop update became a weekly casino update (thanks Mookie for all the rng lootboxes and no new skins) and all protest was ignored, it was time to leave. I say somewhat serious as I quit Aion because of how gameforge was handling their cash shop. There's hardly a better way to middle finger your players than show them you treat the game as a cash grab worse than new private servers arriving seemingly every two months and disappearing again just as fast, except you would expect that from a private server (hence why many people who want to play Aion still stay off them) and perhaps not from a somewhat serious game company.

I still think classic will work out quite well, but the success will depend heavily on how the cash shop is handled and if there are economy breakers like the candy abuse, or abusable p2w ap/medal gains from gold packs or similar like in Korea where people who cashed heavily at start had full ap set a few weeks into release before the loop/cash-hole was closed. The grind is tough, and endgame is lacking without even dredgion.

But what patch people prefer is spread out quite a bit, and 1.9 barebones might not be all too tempting for the people who prefer 4.x for example. Private server population is enough to prove that. Thing is, plenty of people want to play pre- 5.x Aion.
